I got back to Lincoln to face one hundred seventeen submissions for the prize contests. That's like almost 800 in dog submissions. How many in scorpion? Too many to count. And that's all before the hundreds of postcards we handed out at AWP.
Speaking of which, I still have a box of goodies coming to me. I took a big suitcase, so I had to go to the Kinko's/FedEx in the lobby and ship stuff home to me. Also, I'm sifting through the business cards I picked up. (And some of mine got lost, apparently. Hello, Whitney.) I've gone to see the poems of Laura McCullough at Mudlark, and the lively photos of Katie Fallon over at VaTech. I still owe email to Eric Freeze, a guy I've known almost accidently for over five years, now (he's on that page, just scroll down a tad). I owe him poems. I'm itching to get into The Measured Word: On Poetry and Science. I picked it up at a panel on neuroscience, math and physics. Mostly good, but these people and their fascination with Ferdinand de Saussure. I mean, really. People, get into the 21st century.
In other news, the theme for my birthday was games. Dana gave me a small clutch of them: Bison, Fluxx and Are You a Werewolf? Come over some time and we'll play.
Whitney passed along your info, so I've now been perusing your blog, which I'm going to add to my own blogroll. It's good to see you're doing well. Happy birthday!
