Here, we're celebrating with a bit of clean up. It's been a busy end of the semester, as usual, so we're just now getting around to some scrubbing. Biodegradable cleansers, of course.
I remember that my parents had the Whole Earth catalog. They were into recycling early. I was encouraged to read and think about the environment and pollution when I was still quite small. But then, that was the era of Iron Eyes Cody, the burning of the Cuyahoga River, Love Canal and so on. Then Carter was in the white House and we had a brief national discussion about cardigans and lower heat. He put solar panels on the building at 1600 Penn Ave, if you'll recall.
And then Reagan happened. We're still in the hangover phase, unless we haven't stopped bingeing yet. Given our imperialist foreign policy, I'm thinking it's the latter.
