My impression of George (with a French pronunciation, to just, you know, piss him off) Bush at the summit: But why don't the other kids like me? Doesn't he sound especially truculent--and drunk--this time around? I'm going to skip the obvious, stunning delectation of watching two schoolyard bullies in a manhood measuring contest. I would think that the sight of Putin and Bush actually taking the measure of each other would curdle the blood of even the most devoted online porn aficionado. I want to give full and proper respect to the current Chancellor of Germany, Angelika Merkel. As a PhD in physical chemistry, it must gall her to no end to deal with a C student. I admire this woman more, though, for refusing to back down from Wingnut the Cowboy's sudden, reluctant zeal to lead on global environment change. Kyoto's still out there, W, she seems to be saying: Here's a fucking pen; don't stab yourself in the eye with it as you go.
Is there anything quite like an eight year old boy shrilling out: I want to be in charge, I want to be in charge. And then everyone ignores him. What's hugely frustrating, of course, of course, of course, is that I'd love to have my country leading initiatives on environmental issues. But W and his "plan" just ain't it.
Nice blog. I hopped over from Crafty Green Poet's place. This place is as green as hers, thank God! Cheers...
