That would be the miles round trip. Not the most amazing total of miles ever, true, but it's our total and we're proud of it. This is another way of saying that we survived our business/pleasure trip through St. Louis, Spartanburg, Belton, Hendersonville and Asheville.
Some categories:
Most Damn Fun to Have Fully Clothed and Sober: City Museum. If you're ever in St. Louis, rush right over. And remember your primate roots.
Most Mellow Conference, plus Conference with Highest Chacos to Participants Ratio: ASLE. Click on "Main" to get to the pictures. I'm not in any of them, but my old school is.
Best Technological Advance (tie): Wired spaces and tents. The latter are now actually waterproof, a great advancement over my youth. Which was also waterproof, but in a different way. Both my alma mater and the main street of my hometown are set up for wireless. The former impressed the hell out of the conference attendees. You could sit on a lawn under a magnolia large enough to be seen from space, flip open your laptop and start emailing away. This was very exciting. As was staying dry during two nights of rain in the Nantahala National Forest.
I'll have pictures up soon as well as other ruminations. But I should note one thing first: 35mpg. Go lil' Scion.
