I'm spending most of my days in the magazine office, learning more about the inner workings of the university budgeting process than I ever thought I'd know. In a very real way, these processes are as tricky--and easy--as game rules. Which, of course, they are. A bit arbitrary, but with rationales that are important to the people who put them in place. Play correctly and all goes well. It can ever be fun. Show disdain? Attempt to cheat? Simply ignore people/structures? Abandon your post, or you life will be a great vale of sorrows with nothing but salted broken glass beneath your bare feet.
And on to a different shade of green. Now that we're back to decent temperatures, the little AC window units are quieter, and we can sleep in our faux treetop bedroom again. I'm pulling for not hitting triple digits again.
