Or not. After much driving, we are back from northern Illinois, a land dense with two lane roads spooling between carefully groomed bits of wilderness and proliferating strip malls. Of course, D and I stayed mostly in the cosy ranch style house of my brother, his wife, and their four kids. All good folks. The religion was pretty toned down, so that was nice. . . though they did go to church a lot. I spent a lot of time with Legos and Bionicles, and spent a lot of time playing Elk Fest, Dread Pirate, Carcassonne and There's a Moose in the House. Playing games with kids is a. . . different experience. High intensity.
I got some reading of Joy Harjo in, and a bit of the Weisser and Dobrin Ecocomposition collection. I need to turn my attention to my AWP presentation, the Southwest/Texas American Culture Association/Pop Culture Association presentation, and I'm just anxious about what's happening back at the office, though I'm not allowed to go to the office because we're in a "shut down." But I will be working with our t-shirt designs. Right.
Oh, and if you're ever in northwest Illinois, stopy by Galena (and when we stopped by, the town looked a lot like that splash page). Fun town.
