I should be paying more attention to the Obama environmental team because I'd like to think that they'll do something useful, but we've been burned in the past, so I'm not altogether excited.
The other reason I haven't been paying attention is that I've been pounding out the final version--final for now, as I tell my students--of my paper "Writing the Place You Know: Toward a Sustainable Workshop." It's the expanded (and then contracted and profoundly revised) paper I gave at the SW/TX PCA/ACA last year. And now it's part of a book proposal making the rounds, so I won't be re-posting it here. It's been a lot of work, but I've enjoyed thinking about my teaching, and I'm pretty excited about getting back to teaching and using these strategies/theories. Also, a few of the new TAs and I have been talking about pedagogy, about their interest in pedagogy, so that's added a nice level of social support. So the process was trying, but it got simply tedious once I rewrote the citations for the Chicago Manual of Style. Oof. But it's done, now. Off to the lead guy/editor of record.
We're at T minus x for Wendy. At some point, I'll be able to fill in the x, but right now it's just a lonely variable.
